The rearend went out four the third time today. The first two times I was pushing brush.At 25 hrs then again at fifty hours.This time I have 120 hrs. I was digging a ditch with the backhoe and started to move the tractor up and it snaped very loud and it was over. Lucky to have 4x4.I got it back home using the front .I'll take it back to dealer in the AM.Boy am I ever going to hate this.Ken

Ken, I'll tell you a story that may help. Thirty years ago and in another industry altogether we had a similar problem. We had transmissions breaking in the oddest ways, and we could carefully measure and replace every shaft and gear in a transmission and the darn thing still wouldn't last. To add to the puzzle, quite a few of that year's transmissions had a problem, but not all. The problem gears and shafts seemed to be identical with the ones that had no problems at all.....except for all the broken teeth and bent shafts. After we had rebuilt more transmissions than I ever want to see again...and answered lots of irate customers....we finally discovered that the problem was a group of transmission housing castings that had the bearing pockets machined so that the transmission shafts were very slightly out of parallel. So it was not a design problem at all, but on the other hand nothing we could do as to those transmissions was going to fix them. We ended up replacing the transmissions with new ones - including new cases - and that was the end of the problem. In that case we never did get the factory to admit to the problem; every dealer just accepted the loss by himself. Perhaps the experience has no exact relevance to your problem, but the important thing is that by keeping after it we were finally able to discover the exact cause of the problem....and then able to use that knowledge to fix it. ....

Roger don't you just love life, been there done that. I'll fix someting one way once, don't ask me not to go deeper the next time! Is that being lazy not wanting to fix the same thing twice? I guess if you have to fix it twice you didn't fix it right the first time! ....
